Employment Contract
Understand your contract — term, probation, pay and obligations.
What does the law say (plain)?
Article 15 requires the contract to be in Arabic in two copies; the worker may prove rights by any legal means if not in writing. A fixed-term contract that continues beyond its term automatically becomes an indefinite contract from the start.
Article 19 lists worker duties: perform work personally with due care, obey lawful orders, keep trade secrets even after contract ends, safeguard entrusted tools/materials, and undergo required medical examinations.
Article 35 allows a probationary period of up to 3 months at no less than minimum wage; employer may terminate without notice or compensation during probation. If the worker continues afterwards, the contract becomes indefinite and probation counts toward service.
